Exploration of Its Path Dependent Development

Abstract

The globalization-related, aggressively expanding dynamics in many industries are the primary causes of the rise in alliances during the past ten years. By forming alliances, businesses promote both the exploitation and the exploration processes. Firms require particular competencies, such an alliance competence, to do this. This work seeks to describe the alliance capability building process. This contribution will assess alliance competence on a theoretical and qualitative level by conducting a case study on the Deutsche Börse AG, a worldwide financial institution functioning in a highly competitive and dynamic market.
