Status of Integration of Health Information Systems
Abstract
The Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) in Namibia has acquired health information systems (HIS) in an uncoordinated manner, resulting in fragmented silo systems and a lot of duplication of functionality across departments. Integration of information systems is necessary to offer uniform information support throughout the health sector.
The purpose of this research is to analyse the level of integration of information systems in the Namibian health sector. The issue therefore becomes, "What is the present degree of HIS integration in the Namibian health sector, and what variables determine their level of integration?"
