Evaluation of antioxidant potential and antimicrobial activity

Abstract


An increasing demand for natural additives has shifted the attention from synthetic to natural antioxidants. As leafy vegetables are found to be good source of antioxidants and the present study is to examine the antioxidant potential. The aqueous extracts showed maximum scavenging activity of DPPH followed by nitric oxide, hydrogen peroxide and reducing power respectively. Benzene and alcoholic extract showed maximum antimicrobial activity.
