Decision support system for outreach health worker

Abstract

Rural residents lack easy access to high-quality healthcare that is located nearby. Villages do have health care facilities, but they are often understaffed and lack even the most basic amenities. To get medical services, which are sometimes expensive and difficult for villagers to pay, they are frequently need to travel across vast distances to district headquarters or big cities. On the open Android platform, we created a mobile-based decision-support framework and showed that it was feasible to design a full end-to-end system for widespread distribution to outreach health workers. The decision support system makes it possible for the outreach health professional to provide reliable primary healthcare to rural residents.
